MANA! Fast Slow Food is a trendy spot in Hong Kong for vegan, vegetarian, organic, local, gluten-free and eco-friendly quick meals. This is the perfect joint for a quick detox if your travels bring you to Hong Kong.
Food
The menu is varied but simple. MANA! has delicious mezzes such as hummus and baba ghannouj. The best part of the menu is the create your own flat (an organic oven-baked flatbread) and salad box. My absolute favourite is the salad box. Despite what anyone tells you, the small is more than enough for one person! The large is enough for two. I kept forgetting and each time, ordered the large, only to have a ton left over.
You could choose from any 5 of the salads: kale, chickpea, pumpkin spinach, quinoa n’ rice, mixed greens. Each topping added is an additional 12HKD. I would recommend avocado, soft boiled egg, falafel and haloumi cheese. I made mine a combo by adding fries (+ 30HKD) but that was a huge mistake. As tasty as they were, it was enough fries to feed a small village!
The Other Stuff
This is a busy take-out joint. You place your order with the cashier and you’re given a buzzer to wait. There is a self-serve water fountain. Once your order has been placed, there can be no changes made – I tried adding avocado and was told “no”!
Those who filled the spaces of MANA! were dressed in fitness gear or work clothes – a nod to its location in the central business and party districts of Hong Kong. There is al fresco communal dining in a cozy nook upstairs and there is a bank of seats in the takeout area. In the evenings, the ambiance is dark.
