Hôtel Gabriel Paris is a 3-star boutique hotel located in Le Marais, the 11th arrondissement of Paris. I stayed here for a week in the summer and had a lovely stay. I would recommend this hotel for comfort, convenience, and location. Here’s my Hôtel Gabriel Paris review.
Hôtel Gabriel Paris
Location
The location is very close to the République and Oberkampf Metro stations and it is very easy to get around on foot. There are bakeries, grocery stores, and restaurants on the main street nearby, yet the hotel is tucked away on a quiet street. The walk to Le Marais takes about 10 minutes but there is so much to see along the way. The vibe around Le Marais is very hipster and reminds me of the West Village in NYC.
Rooms
Hotel rooms in Paris are generally tiny. My room at Hôtel Gabriel was no different, but there is a decent amount of space to move around. The decor is modern-minimalist and the view overlooking the rooftops of Paris was a great way to wake up to the sunrise.
My only complaint: the shower should have a larger piece of glass or a curtain to prevent water from pouring out everywhere!
Check-In
I arrived earlier than the check-in time but they were able to store my luggage. There is a washroom in the cozy lobby area where I freshened up after the long flight. When I returned in the afternoon to check-in, they gave me a complimentary room upgrade to a slightly larger room (‘slightly’ being the operative word).
Staff
The front desk receptionists were so warm and helpful. They helped me confirm a restaurant reservation in the city of my next destination. The receptionist also helped me look up reputable salons for a blowout and gave me his personal recommendations.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the small lounge area on the ground level. The hotel offers a selection of hot and cold items, although the hot items get depleted pretty quickly. The staff is really good about replenishing if you ask. There is a fancy little Nespresso machine. One morning it was so busy at breakfast, they ran out of mini croissants and the receptionist rushed out to a nearby boulangerie to bring back fresh, full-sized croissants!
Final Word
This is my second time staying in the Le Marais District (the first time was in an Airbnb apartment) and I absolutely love this neighborhood. It’s worth noting that Hôtel Gabriel has an elevator! This is crucial as many smaller and older buildings in Paris do not. When I stayed on the 5th floor of the Airbnb, it was my small but mighty friend who hauled my 50 lb luggage up the neverending spiral staircase! Given the location, comfortable rooms and great service, I would highly recommend this boutique hotel.
