On the way back to Toronto from Buffalo, we made a stop at Two Sisters Vineyards and Kitchen76 in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Two Sisters Vineyards
We arrived just in time to watch the sunset over the vineyards.
Kitchen76
We arrived mid-afternoon, which was too late for lunch, but too early for dinner! Kitchen76 offered an Intermezzo menu for this afternoon. This smaller menu features only three items from their regular menu.
Food tried: Margherita Pizza with fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil and olive oil, and a Prosciutto e Formaggi board with prosciutto di Parma, hard and soft cheeses, olives, compotes, and honeyed nuts. Wines tried: 2012 Two Sisters Cabernet Sauvignon & 2013 Two Sisters Merlot
Wines We Bought
After our super-filling snack, we went to the wine shop to sample some of the wines and left with these wines (in no particular order):
2016 Two Sisters Rosé (Silver Medal Winner, National Wine Awards 2017)
2016 Two Sisters Chardonnay (Gold Medal Winner, All Canadian Wine Championships 2017)
2012 Two Sisters Cabernet Franc
2013 Two Sisters Cabernet Sauvignon
2012 Two Sisters Cabernet Sauvignon (Silver Medal Award Winner, Ottawa Wine Awards 2016, Silver Medal Award Winner, Inrtervin 2015, Bronze Medal Award Winner, Decanter World Wine Awards 2016)
Good to Know
If you eat at Kitchen76, bring your dining receipt to the wine store for a complimentary tasting. Our guy was really generous with the tasting and let us try a bunch of different wines!
We really enjoyed the quality snack at Kitchen76 and detailed service. We hope to go back in the Spring to try the more extensive dinner menu. In the meantime, we’ll be cracking open a selection of fantastic wines from Two Sisters this holiday season!
Location: 240 John Street East, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Intermezzo Meal for Two: $120 (including wine)
