I never thought I would be writing a food review of McDonald’s, but their Build a Burger menu was so fun and memorable that I just have to mention that while in Hong Kong, I sampled McDonald’s Create Your Taste menu.
The customizable menu is currently in parts of the world including Asia, Australia and the UK and there’s word that it’s coming soon to North America. There are currently 9 McDonald’s locations in Hong Kong that offer the Build Your Burger menu. The location I visited was inside Festival Walk Shopping Centre in Kowloon Tong.
Food
Part of the appeal of McDonald’s Build Your Burger menu is the fun and interaction involved in selecting your toppings. The price point begins with a basic burger combo meal ($59 HKD). From there, you can select toppings to customize your burger experience.
My fully customized burger contained: Brioche, Guacamole, Truffle Flavoured Sauce, Herb Aioli, Long Sliced Pickles, Fresh Tomato Slices, Whole Leaf Lettuce, Tomato Jalapenos Relish, Caramelized Onion, Grilled Mushrooms, Grilled Pineapple, Pepper Jack Cheese, Chargrilled 100% Angus Beef
The Other Stuff
Once your creation is complete, you will be given a paging coaster. Your customized burger is then delivered to you at your table. This is moving towards McD’s plans to offer table service – in Canada, at least (read the article here in the Financial Post).
